Our team used Kinect camera and Unity engine to create a virtual fitting room using 3D virtual clothes models that instantly maps onto the users.
In this project, I was in charge of UI/UX design, icon design as well as making some clothing assets. As a Sr 3D Artist, I made the most complicated design’s clothing.
For the UX design, I collaborated with engineer lots of time. We did trial and error many times but, we made it successfully in the end.
For the shader, we are using Unity's Standard PBR setup for a more photo-realistic result. However, the projection/screen display is limited to a lower resolution quality, so some of the high detail texture and normal are lost.
For this project, our team encountered many challenges, including matching the lighting, joint positions, research on the average person body structures, weight-painting...etc. under short amount of time. In the end, we were able to pull this out, and it is currently being showed at Suning HQ's Expo Hall.
UX design
My role was Product designer working end-to-end (UI, UX, concept art, 3D modeling/ texture and art direction)
This idea sketches show you how I imagine for UX.

UX Flows design
UX flows makes it easy for engineers to get a perspective of the system. This is for Magic RunWay

Prototype
I worked with engineers directly for better communication. This video show you how it works.

3D Modeling / Texture
I made base mannequin model (male/ female) including clothing for Magic Runway and Style Wall both. Main tool was Maya, ZBrsuh and Photoshop. Screenshot from Unity.
Behind Story
It was hard to make decent looking 3D model. The projection/screen display is limited to a lower resolution quality, so some of the high detail texture and normal are lost. It was huge different look between PC monitor and screen.Whenever I finish 3D model, I manually check with screen for normal, defuse, fabric texture one by one. This video show you what I was checking our work and giving art direction to art team.
